20-Year Project Lifetime
Econetix GmbH (Austria) and EcoNations Corp. (Vietnam) are co-developing an integrated bamboo plantation and biochar carbon removal project in Khánh Hòa Province. The project combines a 240-hectare bamboo plantation with a 40 t/day continuous pyrolysis facility to produce 12,000 MT of biochar per year, generating 30,000 Puro.earth CORCs annually. A VIFC Da Nang SPV structure provides significant tax benefits over the 20-year project lifetime.
During the first four years, the facility sources FSC-certified acacia and eucalyptus from over 16,000 hectares of accredited suppliers within a 50 km radius, eliminating early-stage supply risk. From Year 5, the project’s own bamboo plantation begins its first harvest, reaching approximately 74% self-sufficiency by Year 6 and reducing feedstock costs from roughly $3.8 million to $1.5 million per year.
The EcoNations Vietnam Project develops a 275-hectare integrated bamboo and biochar carbon removal facility in Khánh Hòa Province. By combining engineered carbon removal with sustainable bamboo cultivation, the project generates dual carbon revenue streams while creating rural employment and improving soil health for local farmers.
The project is designed to deliver measurable contributions across key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including climate action, life on land, decent work, responsible consumption, and zero hunger.
Biochar applied as a soil amendment improves water retention and nutrient binding, directly benefiting Vietnamese farmers.
28 direct jobs in SPV management and factory operations, plus indirect employment in bamboo plantation and harvesting.
Years 1–4 convert FSC forestry by-products into high-value biochar; Year 5+ closes the loop with the project’s own bamboo plantation.
30,000 tCO₂e removed annually via biochar carbon removal, plus additional sequestration from 240 ha of bamboo during its growth phase.
Bamboo plantation on degraded land supports reforestation, erosion prevention, and habitat restoration with no deforestation required
The emission reduction plan below summarises the expected tCO₂e (CORC) volumes for the initial five years of the EcoNations Vietnam Project.
| Period | tCO₂e |
|---|---|
| Year 1 (2028) – Ramp-up (60%) | 18,000 |
| Year 2 (2029) – Full Capacity | 30,000 |
| Year 3 (2030) – Full Capacity | 30,000 |
| Year 4 (2031) – Full Capacity | 30,000 |
| Year 5 (2032) – Self-Supply Transition | 30,000 |
| Total Emission Reduction Over 5 Year | 138,000 |
Econetix’s proprietary digital Measurement, Reporting and Verification (dMRV) platform is deployed across 15+ carbon projects, replacing manual sampling with continuous, auditable data streams.
Key monitoring parameters span feedstock source, moisture, and FSC chain of custody; pyrolysis temperature, residence time, and throughput; and biochar carbon content, stability factor, and GPS-tagged end-use application, ensuring robust, transparent impact accounting for every CORC issued under the project.
Registry & Methodology
The EcoNations Vietnam Project is developed under Puro.earth’s Puro Standard Biochar methodology, converting 12,000 MT of biochar annually into 30,000 CORCs (Carbon Removal Certificates). Each CORC represents 1 tonne of CO₂ permanently removed, with a permanence of 100+ years in soil application.
