Econetix and the Austrian Tennis Federation bring climate transparency to national tennis

Sustainability PartnerPartnership Announcement

Econetix is the Official Sustainability Partner of the win2day Open, the Austrian National Tennis Championships. The collaboration gives the ÖTV a structured climate assessment of its flagship event and a practical roadmap to reduce what matters most.

A federation already in motion

The Austrian Tennis Federation is the national governing body of Austrian tennis and the organiser of the country’s most important tournaments. Sustainability is not a new topic for the federation. The ÖTV has moved its mobility partner to an all electric fleet for coaches, replaced single use plastic on player benches with reusable bottles, and installed a large photovoltaic system at its site. Ball recycling and water use on courts are the next questions on the agenda.

What was missing was a clear, fact based picture. Concrete measures are valuable, but without measurement they remain a wish list rather than a strategy. That is where this partnership comes in.

What Econetix delivers

Econetix is a Vienna based Carbon Asset Manager, working across carbon project development, digital monitoring, and ESG advisory. For the ÖTV, that means measuring the CO2 footprint of the Austrian National Tennis Championships across travel, energy, catering, infrastructure and waste, translating the results into an accessible climate report, and developing a prioritised reduction plan. Econetix also advises the federation on putting individual measures into practice and on communicating its sustainability work.

Sport as a platform for climate leadership

Large audience events are not only logistical challenges. They are platforms. When a national federation makes its environmental performance transparent and accountable, it sets a standard for the wider sport. The ÖTV joins a growing Econetix portfolio in sport and entertainment that includes SK Rapid, the Eurovision Song Contest, and many more partners who share the view that credible action starts with measurement.
