26-Year Program
The Gamboma Carbon Project is a large-scale afforestation and REDD+ initiative in the Republic of the Congo, designed to conserve existing forests while restoring degraded landscapes through tree planting and sustainable land-use practices.
Within the project landscape, REDD+ activities focus on preventing carbon loss linked to deforestation and forest degradation, while A/R activities expand tree cover in nonforested or degraded areas. The afforestation component is structured around long-term forest management practices to support durable carbon removals and measurable biodiversity and livelihood co-benefits.
Next credit issuance: Q2 2027
Estimated annual credits: 120,000 tCO₂e / year
The project brings together conservation and reforestation to protect high-value forest patches, restore degraded areas, and enhance long-term carbon storage. By combining REDD+ activities with new tree planting, it safeguards existing forests while creating productive plantations that support local livelihoods and biodiversity.
The project is designed to contribute to multiple Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through emissions reductions, improved livelihoods, education and training, and the sustainable management of land and forest resources.
Over the project’s lifetime (2026–2051), an estimated ~3.1 million tCO₂e may be avoided and/or sequestered through conservation, restoration, and sustainable forest
management.
The project supports local livelihoods by creating jobs in afforestation, conservation, monitoring, and site operations—enabling communities to generate income and improve living conditions
By creating inclusive employment opportunities for both men and women, the project promotes fair, decent working conditions and local economic development.
Conservation, restoration, and responsible land-use practices strengthen ecological health, improve resilience, and support biodiversity across the landscape.
The emission reduction plan outlines the expected tCO₂e savings from both afforestation / reforestation (A/R) and REDD+ activities for the first five years of the project:
| Period | ARR | REDD+ | Total tCO₂e |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026 – 2027 | 220,000 | TBC | TBC |
| 2027 – 2028 | 367,000 | TBC | TBC |
| 2028 – 2029 | 513,000 | TBC | TBC |
| 2029 – 2030 | 660,000 | TBC | TBC |
| 2030 – 2031 | 800,000 | TBC | TBC |
| Total Emission Reduction | TBC | TBC | TBC |
Our proprietary digital Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) solution delivers realtime data and actionable insights across the full carbon project lifecycle. Tailored dashboards support validation, monitoring, and reporting for stakeholders across both the A/R and REDD+ components.
Key environmental metrics can be monitored using a combination of field data, remote sensing, and AI-enabled analytics—supporting transparency, robust data quality, and integrity beyond standards.
